Breaout Sessions: Edit

Why Beauty Matters

Why is beauty so important for God's redemptive work here on earth? Whether it's a beautiful sunset, flowers in your garden, or a painting, beauty was created by God and is meant to bring Him glory. In this session, learn to see, embrace, and practice beauty through the eyes of faith.

God the Judge In a "Judge Not" Culture

How do we marry the tension of God's holiness and righteousness with a culture that screams, "don't judge,"and "if God is love, how could He allow ______"? Psalm 75 is a beautiful study on how to see past culture wars into the heart of God. After this session, you will walk away with biblical principles on how to navigate the culture wars around us.

A Fork In the Road

We get one chance at life. And in this one chance, we are faced with many decisions. How many kids should I have? How do I navigate a toxic relationship? What's my purpose in this season? How do I navigate this health diagnosis? Each of us face different circumstances, leaving us to make decisions. In Psalm 1, God gives us a road map on how to bring wisdom into the equation of decision-making. Learn principles to guide you with every turn life brings.

Making Space

for Lament

Explore the transformative power of biblical lament - a practice that makes space for your honest expression of hurt, grief and raw emotions before a God who wants to hear from you. In this session, we will use the Psalms to uncover a roadmap for navigating some of life's most difficult emotions. Through teaching, discussion and reflection, we aim to find healing through the authentic expression of biblical lament.

A Broken and

Contrite Heart

Like David, we all blow it from time to time. If we're not careful, religion can become one of the biggest cover-ups for our sins. Have you ever started to confess your sin and thought, "I've really been ok." This study will shed light on hidden sins in need of repentance and the beauty of restoration that follows. Psalm 51 brings together the painful reality and depth of sin and the wonder of divine mercy.

One Book,

One Story

We often read the book of Psalms like a collection of 150 individual songs. The Book of Psalms tells one continuous story, much like a modern day musical. Themes, patterns, and melodic lines appear again and again to bring together one continuous tapestry of God's steadfast love and faithfulness.

Finishing Well: A Prayer for Senior Adults

Aging believers can trust God to continue to be faithful to help them now and forever. Senior adults (in the faith) not only have to deal with the difficulties of aging but also with the continuing battle of those who oppose the Gospel and want to discredit their Lord. Psalm 71 speaks of an aging saint finishing well. In this session, learn how you too can do the same.

Cultivating a Life-Long

Dialogue With God

Psalms is known as the prayer book of the Bible. In this session, you will look at prayer through the lens of the Psalms. Bonhoeffer once said, "The richness of the Word of God ought to determine our prayer, not the poverty of our heart." Learn how to pray the Psalms just as David, Solomon, Asaph, Christ, and many more did.
